Old stock GE tubes, and 2 prong cable still attached. This decision to replace or repair the speakers is best left to its next owner. The key to a Bandmaster is the tone controls which can act like gain boosters as you turn them up. The Bassman is louder, smoother and later to break up. It is closer sounding to a tweed deluxe, but bigger and punchier sounding and feeling. It has a two-voice treble with octave tuning (bandoneon) and a powerful bass sound. It features the original Oxford 12L6 speakers, appropriately dating to the 47th week of 1964 - sadly, both speakers appear to need their cones repaired. The bandmaster has a very different tone vs the Bassman. The 2x12" cabinet included in this package is also in great shape cosmetically with original tilt back legs. At some point this was modded for an extra speaker output, which has remained untested. Internally, the guts are well preserved less a few replaced discrete components and all new F&T filter caps - resulting in a very minimal noise floor. A very clean faceplate, grill & tolex that show minimal wear. Also, beware, the Clark Tyger, bandmaster clone is around 56 lbs, the Victoria is around 42 lb.s. I personally think the Bandmaster sounds the best, but I love the Pro, and I use a Super because it is a little smaller and breaks up easier with just two 10s.

Bassmans have to be played very loud to sound amazing, or else they are very clean. The 5E7 Bandmaster (3x10), 5F4 Super (2x10), and 5E5-A Pro (1x15) are all the same amp with just different output transformer impedances and speaker configurations. Victoria isnt as nasty, a little cleaner. This example comes to us in great shape cosmetically and functionally, having recently been serviced. The Clark has more breakup, and a little thicker sound. This examples tube chart is stamped OA, indicating a January 1965 production and pre CBS guts. A powerful piggyback, these iconic amps are recognized for their excellent wattage resulting in clean and slightly compressed tone - functional for any genre of music, and a favorite amongst pedal pushers.
